Event Description:
The Moscow Human Rights Commission invites the community to a restorative justice workshop in recognition of Inclusive Communities Month. “Tools for Restorative Justice and Community Building” will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the LeCompte Auditorium at the 1912 Center. Strong communities are built on the foundation of shared respect and shared responsibility. The way we respond to issues within our community impacts the community we aspire to be. In this workshop, participants will learn the foundations of restorative justice circles — then practice building community and healing negative impacts of harm through circles. These tools are effective and nurturing in a wide array of settings and for all individuals and groups: gathering and community places, diverse groups, international engagements and studies, public-private domains, small businesses, boards for various groups, and others across many lines of difference and similarity. The workshop will be led by Cari Fealy, the associate dean of students at the University of Idaho, and Shane Hyde, a vocational rehabilitation counselor at the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
