The National Lentil Festival is celebrating 35 years on August 17 with a jam-packed schedule of events!

 

National Lentil Festival affiliated activities begin bright and early at 7:30 a.m. with the Tase T. Lentil 5K Fun Run hosted by Pullman Parks & Recreation. The 3.1 mile race will start at the Pullman Heritage Depot, weave through Pullman neighborhoods and the WSU Campus, and will finish on the backside of Reaney Park. Additional athletic events begin at 8 a.m., starting with the Circles of Caring Pickleball and Tennis Tournaments. Pullman Parks & Recreation’s Gritman Medical 3-on-3 Lentil Festival Hoop Classic presented by Idaho Central Credit Union and Softball Tournaments will begin at 9 a.m. Information for the Circles of Caring tournaments can be found on the Circles of Caring website. Official National Lentil Festival activities kickoff at 11 a.m. with the WSECU Grand Parade. Given the closure of Main Street, the parade has a brand new route this year following Southeast Riverview Street. WSECU Grand Parade registration is currently open through Aug. 9. Both individuals and groups are eligible to walk in the parade. More information and the digital registration form are available on the Lentil Fest website. 

 

Lentil Fest officially opens directly after the parade at noon in Reaney Park. The festival hub will play host to a variety of local food, marketplace and nonprofit vendors, as well as several activities. Highlights include a beer garden sponsored by Inland Northwest Broadcasting, Lil Lentil Land featuring the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Science Tent, and events at the Harvest Hills Wind Project Gazebo Stage including a Pulse Experts Q & A and cooking demos. As always, FREE Lentil Chili will be served from the world’s largest chili bowl, courtesy of Ziply Fiber, Emmanuel Baptist Church and the USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council, at 5 p.m. - until supplies last.

 

Live music will be performed all afternoon on the Hometown Chevy Mainstage beginning at 1 p.m. with Blue Highway. Other musical acts performing include Ian Jones, Thom Shepherd, Jerry Lee Raines and Snacks at Midnight. Headliner Copastetic will take the stage at 8:15 p.m. and play until festival close at 10 p.m.
