CCCC is looking for a Fiscal - Board of Directors (unpaid position)

ABOUT OUR AGENCY:

Community Child Care is a local non-profit organization that provides early childhood education and care programs to approximately 260 children and families in communities throughout Whitman County.   Approximately 75% of the families we serve are low-income / high-risk families, and services are free for these families.  We are funded through three separate entities;

  • Head Start / Early Head Start – The federally funded comprehensive infant, toddler, and preschool program for low-income children and families provides services for 54 children.  (20 EHS home-based / 17 part-day preschool/ 17 duration )
  • ECEAP (Early Childhood Educational Assistance Program) – The Washington State-funded comprehensive preschool program for low-income children and families. 105 children are provided services in Pullman, Colfax, Palouse, Garfield, Tekoa, Endicott, and Rosalia.  CCCC sub-contracts out ECEAP services to local school districts outside of Pullman and Colfax.
  • Child Care – Available to the general public, our child care program offers high-quality early learning and care programs for children ages 1 – 12 years of age.  This program option is funded through parent-paid tuition and is located both in Pullman and Colfax.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF BOARD MEMBERS?
  • The board (as a whole) is responsible legally and fiscally for the non-profit corporation and has general oversight responsibilities to the corporation’s activities.  CCCC carries liability insurance on our board, which protects members from being held personally accountable for the action of the board.
  • The board is comprised of both parent and community representatives (along with key agency staff who help with coordination and communication).  Your role as a board member is simply to bring your personnel perspective, knowledge, and understanding of agenda topics to “the table” during discussion and decision making meetings.  We look for parent and community representatives members who are competent, enthusiastic, and dedicated to our mission.  Some community representatives are solicited specifically for their expertise in the fields of early childhood education, fiscal, and legal areas.
  • We ask that all board members regularly attend monthly board meetings (typically scheduled on the last Thursday of each month, 5:30 – 7:00, dinner and child care provided).  Additionally, board members may be asked occasionally to participate in sub committees of the board to work on special projects or tasks as needed.
