Purpose — The function of the Pullman Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center is to connect and support local businesses, community members and visitors. Our Tourism Promotions Manager makes this mission possible through marketing Pullman as a destination for tourism and a desirable place to live, work and do business. Our Tourism Promotions Manager works in tandem with the Chamber staff to manage our visitor center and plan small and large-scale community events. The Tourism Promotions Manager reports to the Executive Director.
Core Responsibilities —
● Work with digital content creators, travel writers and local, regional and state organizations to promote Pullman as a tourism destination
● Own and maintain tourism-related reporting, including tourism expenditures, location intelligence data and archival material
● Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Visit Pullman-sponsored events and festivals, including Holiday Festival, Pullman’s Fourth of July Celebration and the National Lentil Festival (securing vendors and sponsors, designing festival layout, coordinating festival logistics, including a parade and route, music lineup)
● Pitch and develop additional events to drive regional traffic to Pullman, including a marathon and sports tournaments
● Work with the business manager to develop, manage, track, and report budgets, including tourism and events, ensuring cost-efficiency. Provide monthly analytical reporting to the City of Pullman and Pullman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
● Identify, secure and manage relationships with sponsors, creative and community partners and event vendors. Coordinate logistics to meet partner needs and sponsor recognition.
● Establish and uphold professional working relationships
● Collaborate with the Business and Communications Manager to plan and implement a cohesive destination marketing campaign with an emphasis on digital media, including long and short-form video, social media and advertisements
● With support from the Business and Communications Manager, create, update, produce and distribute official Visit Pullman-branded marketing materials, including the Pullman Visitor’s Guide, Pullman City Map and Pullman Community Events Calendar
● Oversee daily operations of the Pullman Visitor Center, including inventory and visitor engagement
Required Qualifications—
● Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Communications or four-plus years of related work experience
● Portfolio showcasing accomplishments in marketing, event planning (tourism management), preferably including print or digital collateral
● Proven ability to lead public-facing initiatives, including marketing campaigns and large-scale events
● Experience working productively with a variety of people, including co-workers, external partners, sponsors, vendors and the general public
● Ability to manage multiple social media outlets, including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
● Advanced knowledge of how to manage and develop marketing materials while working within an established brand guide using software programs like Canva and Adobe Suite
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of AP Style preferred
● Basic knowledge of video editing, and the ability to edit short-form video for various social media outlets
● Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary
● Ability to meet multiple deadlines - sometimes under pressure - and produce consistently positive results
● Willingness to delegate tasks and work collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications—
● Prior experience working with tourism-focused CRM systems, tourism analytics platforms and project management systems
● Ability to manage and court content creators via CrowdRiff
